THE FIT FOR FOOTWEAR 2 MINUTE CALF RELEASE SEQUENCE

We rely immensely on our lower legs, ankles and feet. We take for granted how much this area gives us our strength, mobility and security. From the moment you wake up, your ankles have your entire body weight to support. Misalignment, however slight, can have a huge effect on the rest of the body. From your first step in the morning, until your walk home at the end of the day in heels, be aware of how you place your foot on the ground, after all, they would want you to remember: you’d not go far without them.

Keep your ankles mobile and healthy by releasing your calf muscles. The ideal time to do this is at the end of a long day in heels!

 

STRETCH 1

Time: TOTAL 1 minute

Keep your heel pressing through the floor, your leg straight and send your weight forward. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat with other leg.

STRETCH 2

Time: Total 1 minute

In a similar way, keep your heel pressing through the floor and send your weight forward, however this time the back knee is slightly bent. You should feel a different muscle stretching, the soleus, which is a little lower towards the heel. Hold for 30 seconds and then repeat with the other leg.
