2015 was the year of wellness. Over 100, 000 shots of the downward dog and over 495,000 kettlebell poses filled our Instagram feeds. As a nation and globally we are more health conscious than ever before and more and more people are incorporating and refining fitness routines, to achieve a healthier lifestyle.
Exercising three times a week is wellness, “clean eating” is wellness, weekly yoga or soul cycle classes are great to work the tums and bums but what about the feet? Are foot exercises incorporated into your routine? Are you educated about the muscles and bones in your feet? Do you know how foot health can affect your overall body? Often the blame for foot problems is solely placed with shoes, without consideration for the lack of education when buying shoes and the lack of care and attention given to our foundation. 1. Get measured
Feet change in size and shape even through adulthood however, the feet are not measured very often throughout our lifetime. When was the last time you had your foot measured to check your shoe size?
If the answer is more than a year ago, there is a good chance that your feet may be suffering from calluses or pinched toes due to wearing the wrong shoe size.We recommend checking your feet once a year for growth and before buying new shoes. 2. Hydrate your legs and feet
Indulge daily and apply a luxurious foot cream twice daily, to reduce build up of corns or calluses. Use body nourishing and leg contouring cream to rehydrate the skin. We offer a range of Foot Care Essentials that will help you on your way to smart foot care.
3. Visit a foot doctor
When you have a pain that causes great concern, would you ignore it? The answer is no, visiting a doctor would be a high priority! The same is to be said for our feet. Podiatry services can help to alleviate pain, experienced from corns and calluses and can even highlight more serious issues in your general well being. Your feet mirror your general health. 4. Support your foundation
It is important to switch up your footwear; not only will you be more stylish your shoes will last longer and your feet will thank you. Extended wear of one specific shoe style and wearing shoes with lack of support can cause issues and damage to feet, for instance ballet flats with lack of support can be akin to walking barefoot. There are a range of Bespoke Treatment options available to assist with support and padding, wearing soft insoles or gel inserts will reduce the impact on your knees.
5. Stretch & strengthen
Take time every day to stretch your calf muscles and feet. After a day in heels or flats, spend five minutes or so stretching your hip flexors, quads and calves.
